I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but you have to see it. It's the "exorcist" letter that the Zodiac sent, and it had a strange symbol at the bottom. Nobody was ever really sure what the symbol was. But to the left of the symbol there are two distinctive dots, one with a short line through it. It's the same thing I sometimes do to my construction plans when i fold them to make sure the always line up correct. I just match the dots together. I did it to the note, and this is what it looks like. Like the Ear. You could hold the fold point to a mirror and see the same thing. Thoughts please.? Attachments:

What exactly are we supposed to be seeing here?
The Exorcist letter was sent in 1974 (July, I think). EAR wasn't active yet (as far as we know) nor was the term coined yet, nor was it coined by the rapist himself!

r2012,
I suggest you go to the cold case files board on AE and find AKWilks who is very knowledgeable about both the zodiac and Ted K. There are two that post on that board that believe EARONS=TedK=Zodiak and many other bombers in the mix. You should be able to get what you are looking for from them.
Do you consider EAR to be the zodiac? Or is this informational? g

Below is a link to a discussion of the symbol. I don't remember any prior discussion about the dots. To me, your explanation is right on www.stevehodel.com/evidenceroom/?p=146I doubt that anyone can ever make a connection between Z and EAR, but I always had a strange feeling that Z was familiar with the Sacramento area. And no, I am discounting Hilburn, and we know that Phil Thompson has been convicted in re Cloer. This is just based upon some old memories of mine. |

And what of the Cheri Jo Bates murder in Riverside?
Whoever committed that murder, is strongly suspected of pretending to be Zodiac! And wasn't ONS perhaps pretending to be the Bedroom Bashed?
Ugh, the mind reels and I hate coming off as a conspiracy nut! ;O
There is nothing to support such musings. I should probably keep them to myself.

A "fan"? I think that is almost a foregone conclusion. My only hangup is that there was no known sexual component to any believed Z crime.
As to Bates, that has been disected by dozens over the years. I believe that some in the Riverside PD feel that there is no connection. But of all those civies who have ever looked at Bates, I can't remember even one of them who has been able to prove that it wasn't Z.
As for EAR and Barker, I can't remember who was the original and who was the copycat. Didn't they both try to one-up each other?
What if there was no conspiricies ever? Would that be a dull world?
