I am also curious, do you think/believe (gut instinct) that the VR-EAR-ONS cases can be solved? I have always wondered if there is DNA in Visalia, or good prints. I remember reading, a long long time ago, that something had been sent to the lab for a DNA check, so I assumed that there was something for them to check. Nothing ever came of the newspaper article, so obviously there wasn't a hit. The newspaper didn't say what they were testing, but the article came out right around the time that DNA was starting to be presented in the courts as evidence.
