Come on guys that audio is not that scary- its just EAR breathing heavy ( God knows what he was doing at the other end of the line to make himself breathe like that !) & trying to scare the lady ..... people find it scary because they have first heard of his vicious crimes prior to listening to that audio . I would be interested if someone could listen to that audio before they learn about the details of EAR/ONS and then say if its scary or not ..... |

Unless they can prove he is still active and continuing his crimes, I wouldn't be scared.
I think I would have been more scared if I had lived in Sacramento from 76 - 79 knowing he was active then.
Also none of his rape victims knew he became a serial killer until over 20 years later.

It's scary. It's not just the heavy breathing but the evil way he keeps saying "GONNA KILL YOU" and calling her the b*&tch and wh*#e name. I had to click off and not listen the first time I heard it and then I had to wait till the next day and get up the nerve to listen in the daylight. I warn people to be prepared to be scared because one time I didn't, and the woman got mad at me for not warning her.
About that heavy breathing, I hadn't thought about what he was doing previously. I though he might have been at a public phone booth and it didn't cross my mind. Then, at some point someone pointed that out on the board, and I thought bingo, what a dummy, of course! But now I'm reconsidering that again. In the cleaned up tape that Relentless posted on here complete with (it seems to me) really accurate transcript, there appears to be a family in the next room and someone coming into the room to ask him if he getting a call or calling out.) That makes the heavy breathing sound again like he's just trying to scare the victim. Feel free to disagree, but the cleaned up tape changes things for me.

I let someone listen to the cleaned up tape to see if they heard the name, she insistent on listening to the full version of the tape. I told her it was a obscene phone call but she wanted to hear it. Well, shortly after starting the tape, she threw the headphones at me and yelled why is he breathing like that, its awful. I said because it's an obscene phone call, that's what they do and then she said "well, he sounds fat". lol

You are not the only one. I make doubly sure the backdoor is shut at night and any creek up the stairs spooks me out. When I go out for a walk in the dark I imagine EAR/ONS leaping over a fence at me or maybe his face appearing at a window. There have been other crime cases that have spooked me at bit but none as much as this one. I know that what ever precautions I take EAR/ONS would get me if he wanted to. I know these feelings are irrational but that's how this case gets you. His telephone threats to the victims are chilling.
