Two subjects:
#1. Thomas McCarthy/Fireman/Stalker extraordinaire.
He had a full-time job and had the time to stalk thousands of women.
He would actually steal addresses/phone numbers from hospitals/doctor's offices that he serviced after-hours in his aquarium business.
#2. Minor League Baseball
Baseball players have to have strong legs. You could imagine most of them fitting the EAR/ONS physical description (He may be a bit shorter than most players).
A, AA and AAA teams and the dates of operation:
The Eugene Emeralds became the Sacramento Solons in 1974 thru 76, then became the San Jose Missions in 77-78, then moved to Ogden Utah in 1979.
The Visalia Mets were a team in 1974/75, the Modesto A's in 77/78, the Stockton Mariners in 1979.
The Bakersfield Dodgers (a town mentioned by the EAR many times) have been around forever
EDIT: Looks like a strikeout, I found the rosters for the 1974/75 Visalia and 1976 Solons. Nothing seems to jump out.
