I've just started to look into this case, so forgive me if such theories have been posted before.
Just to start I am not a profiler nor do I have expierence in profiling. I do have expierence in investigations. I do have a theory on the suspect and would welcome any comments, ideas or addtional theories.
I believe the suspect was a construction worker, most likely working new housing tracts. Probabaly independent and going job to job. Both in northern and southern CA had a great number of homes going up at the time. Though he most likely came from the Sacramento area. Traveled and lived in a van or motorhome.
I would guess that he had been arrested for peeping or burglary, most likely as a teenager. Given the times possibly drafted into the military. With his knowledge of knots the obvious is the navy. Altough he could have been in the Boy Scouts. I would guess not by choice because he is a loner.
My guess he is 60 to 65 years of age, still alive and living back in the Sacarmento area. This is where the majority of the crimes occurred and where it most likely started for him. I feel the killings stopped because he simply out grew the urge. Much like BTK. Though he probably re-lives the acts he most likly does not have the urge. I would also guess that he is married and holds a decent job. But the job would still be one of minimal social contact.
Again these are my theories and subject to change as I read more into the cases.
